Christmas Concert Scrooge tendencies

DS1 has been having piano lessons and the teacher put him in his first concert yesterday in a local school hall - she does this a couple of times every year it seems, and all her pupils play something. Having alerted all the grannies etc, up we turned to find it was ?4 per adult, ?2 per non-performing child , 50p for programmes, plus raffle and donations for refreshments. Cost us all nearly ?30. Admittedly the proceeds went to charity but am I scrooge-like for finding that quite steep?

Why don't the pound signs come out?

That does sound quite pricey. However do take account of the fact that she probably had to pay for the hire of the school hall (ours chrages £20 per hour and for something like that you would need at least 2-3 hours.

Sureley you should have been informed of these charges in advance.
