Buying Theatre Tickets on the Day

If you queue for same day tickets at a box office , do they sell you the worst available or is there a chance of really good seats ie Stalls at discounted price if they are not full ?

They usually have a number of tickets in reserve on the day at box office.

Presumably they'll also have cancellations.

Also the tkts booth in Leicester square sells slightly discounted tickets for performances on the day.

If it's a weekend and a show that's popular it's pot luck what seats you'll get.

Thank you, hmm , would be for an extra matinee performance this week which seems far from full . Do they aim to fill as many seats as possible or just up to a certain occupancy level ?
