Calling Londoners and others who like art or photography! What would be your Must See this weekend in London?

Dh and I have a weekend away together in London this weekend and so far the plan is go to our hotel on Saturday and then go and see Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and out for dinner but what about Sunday morning (apart from the lolling in bed we'll be doing, obviously!)? Any great photography/art exhibitions you'd consider Must See? We have Sunday pm/evening free too. And Monday morning at a push!

Thanks for any suggestions.

I've been reading great previews of the Modigliani exhibition at the Royal Academy - doesn't open til Saturday so I haven't seen it myself but the RA is a great place to visit anyway, you could go to the Summer Exhibition as well.

the Kandinsky exhibition at Tate Modern looks great too. and the V&A is fab and has a Modernism exhibition on too

am sure someone much more up to date than me will be along in a minute!

I'd want to see 'Angus McBean: Portraits' at the National Portrait Gallery myself.

The BP Portrait Award is also on. Fun to see if you agree with the judges!

MrsJohnCusack · 05/07/2006 20:59

ooooooh yes the Angus McBain sounds great - I knew there was a photography one that I wanted to see but couldn't remember what it was

def going to go and see that myself

MrsJohnCusack · 05/07/2006 21:02

Angus McBean even
He took a fabulous photo of my mum's cousin in an opera which they printed with her obit in the Independent last year - it is the most fabulous photo. As are all of his - oooh yes do go to that. See you there!

WideWebWitch · 05/07/2006 21:04

I've only just seen this www, wonder what else you did?

Funnily enough I was in London on Saturday 8th at the Kandinsky exhibition at the Tate Modern, I found it really interesting, he's one of my favourite painters. Would recommend listening to the audiotape going around it in order to make sense of the "path to abstraction"

We also had dinner in the restaurant on Floor 7 with a river view table, it was great
