I live in Birmingham but havent been into town for years, since before the bullring - i find it a bit scary!

But I only have one ds with me today so am thinking of going shopping. I have heard alot about primark although have never been

Will it be really busy? And where is primark etc? I dont know my way round. Where do i get off the bus? (am getting the 37)

I go quite often but I'd avoid it later on in the day!

Primark is along New Street - do you know where that is? Almost next to BhS.

Maybe i should go to solihull instead

Primark is right opposite the Odeon.

I don't know where the 37 bus comes in, but the driver or one of the other passengers would be able to tell you when to get off.

If you'd find a guided tour easier, I very often go into Birmingham on a Saturday morning for a couple of hours, if your dh could have the kids I could meet you there.

I am a bit scared of going to Brum on my own too, so usually go with my mom.

I do very occasionally go on my own (well with ds), but only get off the bus, pop into primark and thats about it.

Primark will be busy, it always is.

Not sure where the 37 stops, sorry.

I am in Sutton Coldfield Tamba.

I just always feel very wary when i'm there, and like you I haven't a clue where places are and so I think I will get lost.

Sutton town center looks lovely, but it is miles away from me and I am only 20 mins from the bullring. I am near to solihull to but i wanted to go to primark as my mil said it is cheap but the stuff is still nice.

I was a student in Brum many years ago (late 80's - early 90's) and loved the old city centre. I used to get loads of my studenty clothes at the rag market and a shop called Oasis (no, not the chain - a real studenty place with lots of tie-dye, black fringy skirts etc)

I went again last year and couldn't believe how much it had changed. The Bullring was unrecognisable (I cant even remember the big Church that's there). It looked great, but I kind of missed the shabbiness of the old Bull Ring centre. I was a regular in Mark One there!

Have a nice time if you decide to go in!

I'll catch you on MSN later if you're around, Tamba - we'll sort something out.

Primark is usually quiet first thing in the morning of a term time.

I always go there childless if i can or with my mom so she can have the buggy.

The clothes are good though, and cheap. My dd2 had a lovely xmas dress from there this year.

Sutton town centre is nice, I love it, but I spose thats cos I know where everything is and it's not too far away.

NutcrackingXmas · 28/12/2005 12:44

I have never ever been shopping in Solihull.

tamba · 28/12/2005 12:44

When i used to skive school (late 90s) we would go to town and go round the rag market and the fish bit, and eat chips - it all seemed much friendlier or maybe i have just got older and am more of a wuss lol

I think i will go into solihull today or just down the green and take WWb up on her offer of a guided tour one of the days
