Just watched 'Animal Kingdom' - disappointed

Good moments - lots of suspense and some great performances. And anything with Guy Pearce is good with me! But WHY Oscar nom for Jacki Weaver? ??? She was great, but hardly a standout performance

Any other thoughts?

Oh, I thought Jacki Weaver was tremendous! I could feel her suffocating mother love throughout; it added to the general sense of dread and inevitability of the film overall. When she 'revealed' her utter ruthlessness it was shocking, but because of the way she built the character up not that surprising. I actually think she was robbed of the Oscar. And overall it's one of my favourite films of recent years.
