Assault witnessed by 5yo

So basically I was physically assaulted by a neighbour who lives in very close proximity. (block of flats, not even 5 steps between our doors.)
I have photographic and written evidence of my injuries, apologies and further harassment and have passed onto police. However, since they claimed self defence the police have closed the case, citing there's not enough evidence.
Obviously I feel there is no more I could do about the situation regarding justice, but I feel as though it is a serious safe guarding issue being so close and regularly bumping into each other with my child who witnessed the attack, heightened by the fact I've repeatedly asked the neighbour to stay away from my child and they've not listened. Any advice on how is best to handle the situation would be very much appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Sorry to hear that you were not believed and not taken seriously.
Keep hold of your evidence.. You may need it if things stir up again in future and to prove a pattern of behaviour. I would also seek legal advice and an injunction preventing them from speaking to your child.

You should also tell your landlord if you haven't already. I would also completely ignore this neighbour and not say a word to them. Act like their invisible. They will have nothing on you.But keep evidence to build a case against them in case you need it in future. The moment you see them approach you just hit record on your phone to be on the safe side.
