I have to skip ones with children now I’ve got my own - especially boys. Just can’t stomach it. But grownups being dismembered oh yeah!

Pootle40 · 05/12/2020 07:59

@Bagelsandbrie

Gone in the dark is very good too but I think that’s on Now TV.
Yes it was originally Sky Crime.
ThePinkGuitar · 05/12/2020 16:21

Any more podcast suggestions please?

Bit late to the game but Making a Monster podcast is really good. Focuses on interviews with forensic psychiatrists (not sure if this is how they would all describe themselves) and their experiences of the criminals behind some of the most notorious crimes in Britain. Very interesting perspective without any of the overly dramatic delivery that I dislike in true crime podcasts/ documentaries.
I know it isn't everyones cup of tea but the lack of maudlin delivery is one of the reasons I really enjoy My Favorite Murder - genuine reactions from Karen and Georgia and the balance or empathy and humour is so well managed. Despite what a mixture of comedy and murder sounds like it hits the right note as the murders are never the source of the humour.
Also enjoy Casefile, Murdertown and some of the series like Dr Death and The Fred and Rose West tapes are well worth a listen.

@BridgetDarcy

Serial
Sorry - that was meant in response to the podcast request - my quotation attempt didn’t work

BBC has an amazing podcast which now has its own Facebook group from all over the world trying to solve the case from years ago- it’s called Death in Ice Valley- it’s so interesting as possible links to either spies,nazi huntress and revolves around a woman whose body was found in peculiar circumstances- still don’t know who she is or what really happened but it’s a massive hunt for her identity by people across the world now - all kicked off by the podcast.

@ThePinkGuitar

Morbid is one of my faves. They chat a bit at the start but I usually just skip the first 5 mins until they start on the case.

Crime Junkies is good and was my first podcast I got into but there was a huge controversy after it was revealed they plagiarised a load of other podcasts and claimed as their own so I've gone off them a bit

They Walk Among Us - British true crime. Very soothing, very factual, just one guy, no small talk.

Big Mad True Crime - gets straight to it and well researched

Redhanded

And to the OP, have you seen Abducted in Plain Sight on Netflix? Shock Shock

Amdone123 · 25/04/2021 20:37

Yes, definitely watch Abducted In Plain Sight.
It's fascinating.

Amdone123 · 25/04/2021 20:38

I also second True Crime Brewery. Also, Dr Todd Grande. His voice is so soporific, my dog and I fall asleep to him every night.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/04/2021 20:41

Life with murder, on Prime.
Its a documentary about a couple who support their son after he murdered their daughter.

PollyPepper · 25/04/2021 20:51

@IHaveBrilloHair I've just watching this after your recommendation!
So crazy and heart breaking

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/04/2021 20:57

I'm still not sure what to make of it tbh.
Are they wonderful parents, or insane and delusional?
Brilliant documentary though.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/04/2021 21:04

Letter to Zachary which I think is on YouTube.
Brilliant, but needs tissues.

PollyPepper · 25/04/2021 21:05

Omg @IHaveBrilloHair I was trying to remember what that one was called the other day!
It devastated me.

TangledUp789 · 25/04/2021 21:08

I've just watched Accused Of Murdering Our Son on ITV Player. It's about Steven Clark who (for anyone who doesn't already know) went missing in 1992 aged 23, supposedly when on a walk on Saltburn seafront with his mother. She says he went to use the toilet and then never reappeared. His parents were then arrested last year on suspicion of his murder, and they're interviewed in this documentary while out on bail.

While I'm not a fan of Mark Williams-Thomas (who presents this), it's a really fascinating case and interesting documentary.

EntertainingandFactual · 24/07/2022 18:11

Following!
Does anyone have any recent ones to add?

SomeOldDonut · 29/07/2022 00:17

The prosecutors pod is great
