Hey ladies. I had to sign for this letter, the only thing i have done is apply for a vanquis card a few weeks ago and got rejected so I left it alone leading me to believe that this is a scam, but I have checked the return address and seems to be legit, although the numbers on this don’t come up in google? I’m so confused... it seems like they’re fishing for my details, what do you think?

Can you go online and find a contact number for them? That would confirm it

Lwmommy · 13/07/2019 19:23

Look up the contact number for vanquis using google and call them.

Yes, ring Vanquis from their online number and check with them. It may well be that someone has just ticked a wrong box so this letter has automatically been sent out to you - in which case they can sort it over the phone. Or they may say it's a scam. But you won't know unless you ring them. And definitely don't call the number on the letter without checking it online to see if it is genuine.

Yes it’s is fraudulent, they wouldn’t ask for a a password, employment title or ask if police had been informed. In fact they wouldn’t even contact you!

owlish · 13/07/2019 19:48

Totally irrelevant to the OP (sorry), but, ooh, I didn't know MN had a Crime section! Grin

GrabbyGertie · 13/07/2019 19:53

OP, the letter gives your name and the account number. Maybe get the thread deleted?

chloelondon · 13/07/2019 20:02

I don’t actually have an account so not sure it’s a real account number! Strange

Seems like a scam to me, if you look on the third paragraph they have used the wrong forward slash for and/or and on the last paragraph there is a double space before "in order... A company like vanquis would make sure letters are proof read for things like that before sending it out.

Call Vanquis- they are sub prime lenders and so being refused credit by them would be a concern. The set low limits with high interest and so their acceptance rates are very high.

The address is right, the have offices in Chatham, london and bradford- Vanquis are Provident Financial
