My rapist admitted we had sex

I know this probably isn’t the best place to ask this but I’ve tried registering on support forums but they haven’t approved me.

A few months ago I reported an historical rape (about 10 years). I reported it at the time but it wasn’t taken seriously. Luckily this time they are and while it’s taking some time they’re are doing investigations. They have interviewed the man and he says that we did have sex but it was consensual.

I’m pretty surprised he even remembers it to be honest! I kind of wanted to ask if people thought this was a good thing, i don’t think it will go to court anyway but it’s proof I’m not completely making it up. I wonder if it goes more in my favour that he says we had sex or against my case.

Well you know you're not making it up so his confession means little. The fact you have reported this is important though should there be other outstanding or future reports against him. Given the age of the crime, it seems unlikely it will go much further (I may be wrong though) but you have done something brave and smart to report it. It may save another woman in the future.

Mine said the same. Mine was also historic.

Then the police told me because I'd slept with him before and didn't fight him or say no he had a reasonable belief I was consenting.

It went nowhere, not even to CPS.
