If you like writing...what are your other interests?

I think I've become a bit obsessed with writing (fiction) and I'm looking to expand my horizons. Most things I do revolve around writing...my best friend is a writer (but also has other interests), my social life revolves around writing - writing groups and so on. I do have another interest which is sports based but mainly a summer activity. I also enjoy walking. I have been a sahm for a number of years and looking to take up some volunteer work.

Out of a matter of curiosity - do you have any interests related to writing/volunteer in any capacity or an interest in a different type of art form?

A long story, but I'm working on developing self and I've found I've fallen into a narrow focus. Not really musical unfortunately. Not into running.

Anyone?

Yes, sadly, I don't seem to gel with knitting or crochet. Don't think I can paint either. Still exploring options though.

I paint, which is not for everyone and needs space. Since I am an indie publisher I design book covers, too. Social life revolves around friends and family. I enjoy going to plays, operas, and musicals. I am also a member of a detective novel reading book club, and that has social events attached. Other main interest is bell ringing, which involves two nights a week and a Sunday morning (practices and ringing for service). It's an intriguing art and science (and I am pretty basic at it) which has social events, meetings, outings (to ring bells) and my local guild organises teaching week-ends and Saturday mornings, which also involve a social element. I read a lot and used to go to writing groups but they have all faded. I enjoy visiting historical sites, houses, stone circles, churches etc. (plays into the bell ringing) generally with friends or family - useful for research as well. I can both crochet and sew but have not for years - never did get on with knitting. I hope you can find some interests, it's surprising what is still out there and there are university and college courses available as well - they are not all work/exam orientated.

Thanks Grammarnut I must say, I do like the sound of your detective novel book group. It seems like you have a wide range of interests. I'm still pondering on it and willing to try new things.
