What if you don't agree with their edits?

Hi, I've got a request to make some edits before publication. Is it okay to point out that I don't agree with some of their points and why? Or am I just expected to agree with everything? I am happy to go along with their main request.

It's a short story btw.

It depends on the publisher, but generally you should feel free to talk over the proposed changes with them. It's your story, after all - your name will be on it. As long as you're professional in how you go about discussing it, they should be open to dialogue and flexibility.
