Budget for self publishing and promotion

What’s a realistic amount for cover design, editing, proofing, and advertisements?

Hoping to hear that around £3k will be enough to get a new series going.

How many words is it?

I paid £9/1000 words for editing and proofreading. Around £250-300 for a cover

Advertising is more difficult to predict, you can set max amounts on fb and Amazon but you need to play around with the targets etc. Do you have a defined audience and a social media presence?

Thanks for replying, it will be around 60k words and the first in a short series of domestic noir. I don’t want to do lots of self promotion as I’m already published in another genre, and resent this aspect so much. I would rather pay for advertising and do as much, that is, as little, self promotion as I want.

I have an agent but I don’t think she will be interested in this project. I will probably give her the opportunity to reject it when I’m ready.
