Hi - I’m a fiction writer (and reader) and thought I might subscribe to one of these to keep up to date with what’s being published etc. I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on which is better for a fiction reader/writer.

Thanks!

I’m a writer (fiction and non-) and long time subscriber to the LRB. But I buy it for the essays on politics and history. I do read the odd fiction review and enjoy it but I don’t get the sense that LRB is aiming to stay across the breadth of what’s being published at any given time. There are no short reviews, only long essays. I think it goes deep on a few books instead of being a good picture of the general market, IYSWIM.

Have never read the TLS though so don’t know if that’s any different!

Ah, thanks - that's very helpful @SillyYak - I think I'll have to buy a couple of copies of each and see what they're like. I'm mainly after fiction reviews/features, so maybe the TLS is better for that
