Anyone taking part this year? I'm doing it but haven’t done as much planning or organisation as I would have liked.

Same here, speculative fiction and they’re all headed off to a region that I know practically nothing about and wasn’t even on my radar as a possible setting. I only have the vaguest idea what they’ll be doing when they get there too.

Hopefully they’ll enlighten me at some point!

I've decided that I'm just going to do 500 words a day but make sure I do it every day otherwise the temptation will be to try to catch up on another day and that just ain't going to happen! For me it's more important to just get into the habit of writing every day rather than have a rough novel finished. I'm trying to treat it like Duo lingo, keep my streak going but accept that it's a marathon not a sprint.

I've totally changed direction. I'd started an adventure story, but it wasn't gelling for me. So I'm using the same characters to do a fantasy. (probably!)

I do Nano every year.

I find it's a great way to knock out a completely different novella length bit of writing & use up odd ideas that I've set to one side as they don't fit with anything else I come up with.

Sort of like a broom sweeping out the old cobwebs so I've got mental room for new ideas.

First time doing it for me! I’ve done just under 8k so far. Fairly sure what I am writing is a bit rubbish but with ADHD I really struggle to sit down and write which means my writing never improves, so I’m pretty excited that I’ve managed to write for four days straight. Really didn’t feel like it today but sat down and did half an hour then let myself stop and I’m really pleased I forced myself to churn out a little bit.

this is the most I’ve written in years! I’m just so sick of creating worlds in my head and never writing them down - this story has been floating around in my brain for over a year.

I’d love to join in.
Haven’t written anything in ages due to problems with my hands. Hopefully I can get some words out.

I'm still in but quite a way behind. I've just made it to 2k but will keep plodding on.

After being so pleased with my initial start, I haven’t managed anything this weekend! Will try and get back into it from tomorrow

Same here. I’m hoping to get back on track tomorrow.

I'm doing reasonable in terms of number of words written and have made it over 10k, but not particularly happy with what I've written. I've restarted a couple of times and still aren't happy.

I managed to get back on track today and do just under 2.5k but then my MC asked someone else a question and I realised I didn’t know the answer so that seemed like a good point to stop for the day lol

Hmm, not doing so great this month on about 600 words total! At least I opened the file today!

I'm still ploughing on although I have two very busy days next week so won't get any writing done. Currently on 42k, I don't think I will reach 50k unless I work all weekend too!

I've got over 30k to go but I fully intend on finishing even if I don't sleep this week!!!

I've completed, but not done the story I thought I'd do. I restarted chapter one about six times then gave up on that idea and written what is more like a report.

I have attended some of the last few years and would like to again this year. Unfortunately, we were all quite sick this month and I did not join. Maybe next year again!

Today is going to be a belter. Fully intend to write all day

After starting off strong I’ve not written much for various reasons! Definitely won’t finish, I’m on just under 24k now but it’s still more than I’ve written in years and I’ll do as much as I can before the end of the month so I’m still happy. It’s made me realise I can def get into a routine fairly easily so even tho I won’t hit the 50k this month it’s still been really helpful
