Does anyone want to do a novel manuscript swap?

First time posting here. I have a novel MS I have been working on for a while - it's signed with an agent but two publishers have just rejected it in quick sucession, praising the writing but expressive the lack of tension/anticlimax of an ending. I was wondering if anyone out there would like to swap manuscripts for feedback? Or anyone who would like to read it for modest payment?

It's not a long read, around 60,000 words, and is in good shape so won't be complete torture to read. My target market is women readers (it's a domestic thriller, but apparently not quite thrilling enough) and I really need some honest feedback.

I might be interested - but what has your agent said about the situation? I would have thought s/he would have picked up on an anticlimactic ending before sending it out, or may have some ideas for rectifying the situation. I like a good thriller, but if the agent is going to get on the case then there may be little point in my spending time on it.

My agent didn't pick up on the anti climactic ending, he read it in a different way - it's about the early days of motherhood but also has a sinister edge and I think readers are confused about whether it's a thriller or not.... I don't know if the agent is going to get on the case, I think he is as baffled as me!

I've sent you a PM.

I'd be happy to read it for free and give feedback Smile

The thing is that 60,000 words just isn't long enough for the market. 90,000 - 100,000 words are what's wanted. This means you have plenty of space to bring some suspense into your novel.

I'm really surprised that your agent can't help with this, and surprised, too, that he sent it out when it's so short. Is he part of a good agency?

Have PM'd you HollowTalk. It's at 66K so I could possibly bump it up a little more.

JesusDon'tWantMeForASunbeam I will PM you - thank you! Have had some feedback today from a lovely Mnetter who should do it for a living ;-) and it was very helpful
