Did anyone else enter the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize?

I got an email today to say I haven’t made the longlist and am stupidly disappointed! I just wondered if anyone else was in the same boat? I know rejection is inevitable and I will get a ton more so am wondering how to keep any faith in my writing when it doesn’t make the cut in competitions/submissions etc?

Oh gosh yes! I have just posted about this disappointment, too! Wasn’t expecting to get on the longlist and am surprised at how crushed I am

Yep! I know it had over 600 entries and the longlist is only 20...but I was thinking of submitting the same novel to the Blue Pencil Agency First Novel competition and one of the judges is the same as on the Lucy Cavendish panel so I don’t know if there is any point trying again with the same novel? I wish it was possible to know if my entry was 600th or 21st or somewhere in between!

Haha I was considering the same, laser! Have decided not to enter that novel into Blue Pencil for that reason.

But the judge may have adored yours, but another judge may have loved another better. You never know!

I think I will anyway - I guess there is nothing to lose!
