I tried doing NaNoWrMo last year, but there's a lot going on in my life and I'm naturally lazy so I only ended up doing about three days. I'm not at all a natural writer so what I had written seemed wooden (I remember in university being told my essays were wooden, it takes some doing to make an economics essay so wooden that it stands out from the others). But the book kept knocking around in my head, mostly as I was falling asleep. DH and the DC are away for a few days and this evening I just sat down and wrote the final chapter.
I'm so pleased with myself, it has emotion and everything. Admittedly pretty cheesy emotion as it's a sci-fi, romantic, chick lit novel. It's the most that I've ever written in one sitting, excluding exams and coding, 2,110 words.
So now I have badly written chapters 1 and 2, and cheesily written last chapter, all I need to do is fill in the rest of it. At this rate I should definitely have it finished in the next decade or so. And then all I'll have to do is make sure they cast the right hero when they make the film (because I fancy him so much, it would ruin it if it was the wrong actor.
