Needed volunteers to read a sort of Miscellaney

My dad has written 'a book' all bits & pieces he's written before sort of jammed in together

He has this idea that he would self-publish (amazon?/kindle?) it, give it away & write a little bit at the end asking people to donate to a particular charity - not sure it will work, but it's his choice

I guess I need about 6 people, or so, to read it as so far only family & friend have. & to be honest it may only interest family & friends

It's sort of a medley of fact, fiction & feelings - formed as lists, poems & prose

I have found it just wonderful but then it is my life & history; for the general public it might be soul-destryingly boring......so I do need you to be honest

Sounds fascinating - count me in if it can be done electronically (not in UK). Best of luck to him.

Thank you - Yes I can email to your Kindle or to a laptop - I'm not sure about other e-readers

Shall I PM you to exchange email addresses etc?

Hi, I might be interested in reading it. How long is it? How quickly do you want people to read it? Can you PM me?

fredfredsausagehead1 · 05/10/2014 19:04

I can have a look ?? what kind of feedback do you need?

Imminentchaos1 · 05/10/2014 19:04

Hi, I'd love to, will pm email address!

KatyMac · 05/10/2014 19:06

Polite feedback?

Umm if you wanted to donate to a charity, would you buy it?

Kind of is it worth doing?

Maybe, should we do a hard copy or just sell it electronically?

I'll read it, if you like (came here from your other thread).

DesperateDelilah · 05/10/2014 19:08

I'd definitely be up for it - I have a two month old dd and spend ages on iPod and kindle while breast feeding.

KatyMac · 05/10/2014 19:10

I can send it to people's Kindles if you send me that email address & authorise me (on Amazon)

I've been asked about timescales - I have to be honest my Dad is quite poorly in about 3/4 weeks he finds out if they continue to treat him or if they put him on to palliative care

So would 2 weeks be too short for people? It's A4 atm & I guess I'll have to make it smaller pages sometime.....that can wait a while

I'm not sure really

I'm so sorry for what you and your dad are going through, Katy.
I will read as quickly as I can. 'Looking forward to settling down with it again tonight.

KatyMac · 06/10/2014 21:18

Thank you

He wanted to make sure people didn't think it was a book 'about' his cancer or diagnosis more a book about his loves and life

If it's not too late, I'll have a look at it too if you want. I'm also an ex-newspaper sub-editor so can point out any glaring errors if you'd like me to. Hope your dad is feeling ok.

KatyMac · 08/10/2014 15:35

Thanks very much - I've PM'd you

He isn't having such a good week this week - his white blood cell count is down so he had to have a transfusion & that makes him tired
