Does anyone write for harlequin/mills and boon?

Just curious if anyone on here does. I am a long time writer, but have been on a break since have DCs and thinking of starting again now my youngest is going to nursery....and wanted to give this a go. There is a huge thread on moneysavingexpert about it, but I wondered if anyone here has done or does do it, and has any advice?tia

I used to. Single title, though, rather than category. Have you joined the Romance Writers of America? That would be a good start. Any particular line you're aiming for? Some are way better earners than others. For example, Medicals aren't published in the US, whereas Blaze are published everywhere. Came close with selling a category ms to them last year, but have just sold it to someone else as erotic romance suddenly picked up and everyone was acquiring (God bless 50 Shades).

I looked into it but remember that it was very poorly paid! Of course if you can knock them out at a rate of knots then maybe it's worth it?

I had a go years ago and sent in three chapters and synopsis. Got rejected but with a quite pleasant letter. Haven't sent anything since. I've have a few times thought about having another try hence why I came across this thread. There's also the Romantic Novelists's Association in the UK but there's always a waiting list and I have looked on their website. You can join if you have had things published. Which I haven't. But I've heard it is a really good association and very helpful to members.

I worked for them many moons ago as an editorial assistant. I suspect times have changed since I was there (early noughties), but then they were genuinely always on the look out for new writers. They don't pay an awful lot, but the brand is huge and it can be a platform to go onto other things.

Figure out if you want to approach UK or US lines and go for it!
