Hi everyone I'm a newby here - just wondered if I could pop my head in, so to speak, say "hi" and ask a wee bit of advice?

I have just finished an English gcse course - final exam very soon (eek) - this course has ignited a long buried creative writing streak. I am inspired and want to work on my creative writing as my next project and, who knows, get a few short stories published as a first step (I know this is everyone's dream - I'm sure there's room for one more? Where to start? I'm guessing just jotting down ideas and creative streaks is as good a place as any.

On a side note - I have been coveting a poem my dad wrote when he was alive and which he never got round to getting published etc. I'd quite like to do something with this in his memory - get it published in some way as a kind of memorial. No one "owns" this poem and I've spoken to my family who all think this is a fab idea. But where do I start? Can I actually do this? Will there be any pitfalls relating to this - I don't intend and wouldn't out my name to this - the intention as I say is to get it published in his memory.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Molly, this area's fairly glacial slow moving, why don't you come on the long-running thread for writing? That seems to be the bast place for replies. Perhaps even chat for ideas about your dad's poem? It sounds like a lovely thing to do.
