So proud of her . I think she is great actress and was brilliant in Hamnet . But ... She could use a stylist and a PR person . Some of her outfits have been so unflattering, too big for her and she wore a ice blue gown that looked like it needed ironing badly . And her acceptance speeches whilst I appreciate her spontaneous feelings, can be a bit garbled and make her sound a bit of a gobshite .

Am I just a begrudger picking fault or does anyone else think this ?

@LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway Jeez I am not jealous of her she is totally out of any league . And yes I would say it about an actor if I thought he could dress better. Not exactly a character assassination. And I repeat that talking about everyone being drunk at home isn't being diplomatic.

All I said was I didn't like some of her outfits ( loved the Chanel ) and thought she could be more thoughtful in her public speaking
You can disagree with me without getting nasty . I am sure Jessie Buckley gives two shites about my opinion of her 😀

Well she was brought up in a pub. Slight derail....but I've been taking ppl there for ages. It's such a lovely oasis of peace. Only just found out it's her family. It's part of the Arbutus Hotel in Killarney. Lovely people. Fairly well off I'd say but no notions.

She looked radiant at the Oscars and her dress was beautuful. It was much nicer than the pale blue Dior which didn’t fit her and the boring velvet Chanel that she wore at previous ceremonies.
I can’t think of a female Oscar winner who hasn’t been emotional (maybe Meryl at her 3rd) so I wouldn’t criticise her for that.

Wish her lots more sucess!

Love her and delighted she won. She is brilliant in everything I have seen her in. She's a breath of fresh air in interviews and on the red carpet

MarieDeGournay · 16/03/2026 22:00

She had a whole section of the Feb 2026 Vogue all to herself, so you can binge on photos of her in lots of different outfits😄

I am always impressed by what she says, the vocabulary she uses, the thoughts she puts into words...
I didn't listen to all of her speech last night, I'm sure it was a bit all over the place last night but hey, she'd just won an Oscar!

A wonderful achievement and she represents us, and herself, well.

As a Dub, I'm worried though - if Kerry win Sam as well as an Oscar there'll be no living with themGrin

Yes they'll be insufferable now. They were seething when Cork won it no doubt . Jk.

She’s amazing - love her!

I didn't really get the fuss until I saw her in Wild Rose recently and I was in awe of her. I've seen her interviewed a few times and she just seemed so relatable. She is my new girl crush I think. I'm really proud of the Irish actors recently. I'm especially proud of Jessie and Saoirse Ronan, we've had some wonderful male actors the past 20 years so it's nice to see some women representing us too. I couldn't give a hoot what she wears and I hope she doesn't get all PR and Hollywood and start talking the BS tripe they all go on about.

Nofeckingway · 19/03/2026 00:21

@Dontlletmedownbruce I have long been a fan . Which is why I just can't help not liking when she called Paul " a long drink of water " that she could drink all day or something. Huh ? On the hand maybe I don't appreciate her quirky language . I must have notions

Agree with the nice things about Jessie Buckley.Regardless of her positive attributes,of which there are many, she was brilliant in Hamnet and she earned her award.
Also and, selfishly, as an Irish woman, I just love seeing someone who represents 'us' as a top class actor on the world stage. I grew up in Ireland and the nineties and we just didn't have as many female role models in the arts, it's great for younger women to see that. Now I'm a mother and love seeing her,a working mother ,having that incredible success. Hats off to her.
