Despite being asked, only 2 out of 8 Religious orders of nuns - have decided to contribute to the cost of the Mother and Baby Institutions Payment Scheme. SadAngry

The other 6 of the 8 are hardly following the teachings of their religion are they -
“Love one another as I have loved you”
As Christians they should be ashamed of their stance.
How can they stand over their decision ?
I visited the site at Tuam for a service organised by Peter Mulryan and that amazing woman Catherine Corless some years back.
Utterly heartbreaking to think of what happened there.
Remembering all the other awful Mother and Baby homes too and the poor children and mothers who were incarcerated in them.

The facts are that they never followed any religious/christian teachings to begin with, so they didn’t believe then and they are certainly not repentant now. The whole thing is an abomination.

Have they ever calculated what these religious orders made from the payments they received in selling babies and getting women to pay for their freedom? Plus of course what they made from the work (slavery) they had the women do?

Why is the Catholic Church en masse not being held to account? This was systemic. I cannot understand how they still have any power or why people are actually still going to mass. They would do the same today if they could get away with it.

It surely is an abomination @Walkingwithdinosaurs
