I'm not talking authentic, I'm talking the absolute crap that tastes heavenly after a night out. Spice bags, prawn crackers, curry chips, the works

Has to be a spice bag. They were invented for hangovers!

I've lived in Asia, so I've had the best... But to be honest, when I have an itch to scratch, you can't really mess up basic chow mein and prawn toast.

WhereYouLeftIt · 03/03/2025 11:34

A bog-standard beef curry. Yes I know the sauce comes out a factory, I've seen the massive containers of the stuff being delivered, but - it tastes the same as it did when I was introduced to Chinese food, which means it tastes of my childhood.

Intrigued by the 'spice bag' - what is it?

Cctviswatchingme001 · 03/03/2025 11:35

Chicken and cheese rolls dipped in curry sauce with onions. Love chicken balls too.

Psychoticbreak · 03/03/2025 11:36

I think I am the only Irish person that does not like spice bags but essentially it is chicken, vegetables and chips in a spice type seasoning, more salt and chilli than anything. I just do not like them.

For me I love a three in one with chicken balls. I do like a chow mein and when we go out i order different stuff but for a hangover you cannot beat biting the top off a chicken ball, stuffing it with rice chips and curry sauce and devouring.

Psychoticbreak · 03/03/2025 11:37

Oh or chicken noodle soup with spring rolls dipped in.

Coffeeishot · 03/03/2025 11:39

I had a spice bag in Northen Ireland last year I liked it.
But for me I love a Chinese chicken curry and chips I know I know I'm a disgrace 😀

Fridaysgirl17 · 03/03/2025 11:41

I love a chicken & sweet corn soup, crispy shredded chicken,3in1 with an extra curry sauce, chicken ball, prawn crackers. Load up.a prawn cracker with a bit of everything & oh it's heaven... We rarely get Chinese as my kids don't like it but when we do it's fab. I'm not a fan of spice bags if I'm honest 🤷🏻‍♀️

Coffeeishot · 03/03/2025 11:41

Oh our Chinese does a combo.starter it has chicken balls, bbq ribs and spring rolls, also a prawn parcel thing, definitely not authentic but delicious all the same.

Manchesterbythesea · 03/03/2025 11:43

I remember the first time I had a spice bag. I thought it was the ultimate ‘cure’. Still do! I know they are pure shite but they are so tasty! I used to also love a tray thing our local did with a beef burger, chips and bbq sauce. Delicious after the pub.

Irish classic - chicken, chips, veg with spices all in a brown paper bag

Chicken balls. Curry sauce. Egg fried rice. Prawn crackers. Nothing better.

YoungSoak · 12/03/2025 21:51

Trigons and curry sauce 🤤

eggandonion · 12/03/2025 21:53

Our local dies tofu spice bags. I like really bad Chinese restaurant curry with really excellent Chinese restaurant chips.
