If they don't think they've shot themselves in the foot for any future Government contract (or any contract come to mind), sending the state an invoice for €25,000,000 when the job actually came to €200,000 should just about do it, don't you think??

I'm also thinking that if there wasn't the scrutiny on the spends that the NCH is under now (still not under the same level of scrutiny that RTE was under), this type of thing would have slipped through the cracks and BAM would have received payment of €25m for a job that only cost €200k

Your thoughts on this?

National Children's Hospital contractor BAM sent €25 million invoice for job that cost €200,000

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly made the revelation at today’s Oireachtas Health Committee.

You can be sure the government will give them future contracts. They never learn as there's no accountability.

Well they are doing Galway Train Station.

BAM are not the problem in this project. The architects, designers, endless shitty consultants are.
The project wasn’t fully defined and fleshed out. Variation after variation have come on due to terrible planning and design work, BAM are not responsible for that area they can only build to designs that are complete. While BAM are no angels, they can’t make up the design they need it to be nailed down to complete the work. It’s not nailed down, it’s changing all the time so all they can do is keep moving the goal posts. It’s easy to blame BAM but the governments advisors and the numptys they have leading it are to blame 100% .

@LookItsMeAgain
You do realise that you are being sucked into a narrative and PR spin that is being fed to you by government and you are falling for it hook line and sinker!

I don't mean that as an insult but that is what it is. The message is....ooh look at how good we are to have found this...where's the explanation for how the overall gross overspend has been allowed happen.

Yes, government is deflecting their own ineptitude.
