Hey guys looking for some input if possibleIt might be a stupid question but going mad thinking about it ..I got told yesterday I'm close to the top of the housing list for my area and I could be offered a property after the bidding closes on the 28th August. But thing is I'm going to a funeral in England on the 7th of September and won't be returning until the 17th but I'm terrified I will receive the offer letter whilst I'm away and there won't be anyone there to accept it and send it back to them, I know I could tell them closer to knowing whether I got the property for definite or not but I'm afraid they'll Give to someone else if I don't send back acceptance forms in time?Anyone been in this situation before? Help or advise? Please no silly or rude remarks I'm just seeking advice

I don't know much about this but could you contact the Council and ask them what the timeframe is for being offered a property once bidding closes and also explain to them that you're going to the UK for a funeral and ask that they email you if you are offered something.

Alternatively do you have anyone nearby who could call in and check your post? Do you have anyone in the country who could receive post and open for you while you're gone, I know An Post have a redirecting service but I think its fairly expensive https://www.anpost.com/Post-Parcels/Manage-Your-Post/Arrange-Redirection

Fingers crossed you get the property

Hey thanks for the reply.

You see I didn't want to tell them I was going away incase they would withdraw there offer due to me not being here if you get me ( houses are very limited here and rarely come available)

I have asked my auntie to check the post for me and she has agreed. So I think if I receive the letter whilst I'm away I will just email them to let them know I'm away but also let them know I accept so at least they have that on file until I come back.

Thanks.
