Cease and desist letters Ireland (ROI to be specific)

I have gone NC with my mum for many reasons but she has ramped up a smear campaign against me to the point where it is actually affecting my mental health. I did speak to a solicitor a few months ago and he was of the opinion to just send her the letter and deal with everything else afterwards however she is a 100% narcissist and I know for a fact she will not cease anything letter or no letter. The solicitor of course will take my money regardless but what happens if she just ignores a letter and continues on smearing my name? Is there anything that can be done at all or does it eventually go to court or what realistially happens?

Honestly not a lot, I have been through similar with my father. Unless it meets the standard of stalking, harassment or another crime there is very little a court can do.

We received lots of well meaning advice one particular judge asked us to ,enter mediation.🤦‍♂️. So in other words give an abusive person access to their victims, eh no thanks.

We basically got ahead of it by keeping "grey rock" still pops up every now and again but less frequent. Reported every social media post blocked and locked down all and every place I was accessible, so it did and does impact my career. But life is now calmer and the space has helped me recoup, I hope you get some peace soon.

So as I thought it is a waste of money that I do not have. Fuck. Its a horrible situation to be in and I am sorry you also had to go through this. Thank you for the information.

Like PP has said, you just have to ignore. It's a shit situation, I had a thing with my father where he wrote letters to my office where they were opened by the receptionist etc. it was mortifying. But it passed in the end, he got the message that I wouldn't be dealing with him again.

Only getting back to this now but thanks for the messages. It is a shit situation to be in. Shes lied about everything and to absolutely no avail. Yes it would be lovely to shut her up but it won't work anyway. How a person can want to go out of their way to hurt a child they brought into this world will be a constant source of bafflement to me.
