Is anybody else following this story? Poor Aoife. Her family must be so angry and upset that her death could have been prevented. I would be mad as hell if my daughter had died in those circumstances.

It's beyond shocking and to make matters worse they've learnt nothing from it as it's happened again.

The HSE needs to bring in someone like Gracie Rothwell who knows how to manage and get rid of the current lot who keep failing staff and patients.

It’s so sad listening to it. Her poor family and friends.
Whats maddening is that the over crowding continues and nothing appears to have changed.

It's an absolute disgrace. I am just so shocked, well saddened it more correct that this happened. I have been to Limerick Hospital for an x-ray before and it was fairly grim, so over crowded. Of course the medical staff themselves were great but they did not have the facilities they needed.

When my relatives are sick they say do not let me end up in Limerick Hospital, anywhere but there.

I have a distant relative who died on a trolley in there, must be 15 years ago now. There was no where to put her so her kids stood around her in a bus corridor as she died.

Her poor family, and salt is being rubbed in the wound by the HSE running a radio advertising campaign about the importance of considering sepsis that played yesterday evening directly after the report on the disgraceful way Aoife was treated. Fish rot from the head, and there is something seriously wrong with senior managers and practitioners at UCL and there needs to be a clear-out.

So many of us have had that conversation about anywhere else but - Portlaoise, Kerry, Galway - just not UCL.

There is going to be very little point raising any issue except that with politicians.

A verdict of medical misadventure has been recorded for Aoife. May she rest in peace. My heart is broken thinking about Aoife's poor family.
UH Limerick is our local hospital (we are not too far from Shannon). I know people in our area who have travelled to A&E to Cork or Galway so they wouldn't have to go there as it is so overcrowded. This is the so called centre of excellence for our region and nobody around here would be shocked if this happens again.
The silence of Stephen Donnelly also speaks volumes.

This so-called centre of excellence that was used to justify closing down large chunks of Ennis and Nenagh hospitals' services, and the stealing of Nenagh's long overdue elderly care facility.

Sad Heartbreaking for Aoife's family. I am angry on their behalf. Did I read it correctly- did 2 consultants refuse to come in that night when asked but one did come in later ?

One of the main factors that would prevent me moving back to Ireland is the health service. Though tbh the NHS is being undermined at such a rate it won’t be much better soon.

Obviously it’s a tragedy for that young girl and her family. I also feel for the staff on duty who were overwhelmed.

It’s not an isolated incident. I know a young midwife who has quit because the staffing levels in CUH were so unsafe.
