Just wondering what they are like - considering them for my DC's as we are moving to Dublin South West.

Sandymount ETNS was great for us. We were only there a couple of years but I haven't a bad word to say about it.

@DanielGault what's the nearest dart stop for Sandymount ET, do you know? DS is in 5th class and I'm trying to see where we might send him. I'd prefer him to go to a mixed secondary but we haven't a huge number of options locally.

I'm not 100 per cent on that tbh. When we were going there it was still based in the RDS but it's moved now so I think it's a bit further from the dart.

@MulhuddartDrive The nearest dart station would be Sandymount. It’s about a 15 minute walk away.

Thanks @TheRulerofThings . I was wondering why the new Blackrock ETSS is in the RDS but they've obviously moved in where Sandymount used to be.

That was v handy for the dart. Tiny though.

Blackrock ET are actually running a bus which would pick up just down the road and drop to the school door (RDS) but I think the school is too small for ds and I wasn't massively impressed by the principal. Will have have a better look at Sandymount.

I have heard of a lot problems with Sandymount Educate Together secondary. The national school is very good but massive issues in secondary.

Harolds Cross is newer and still in temporary accommodation but I have only heard positives about it.

What are the probs with Sandymount secondary? Just being nosey as that's where we would have been going had we not moved.

Without going in to details a good principal makes a school. A poor principal and discord in the staff room is not good for a school.

Oh ok. That's a pity.

Hi, I have a teenager in Harold's Cross ETSS. We are very happy. They are still in temporary accommodation on their permanent site, but it feels like a school when you are in there. They are very transparent and involve parents and stuff in all plans. Wonderful management team. Would highly recommend!

We have two in Sandymount Park ETSS with one to follow. Both kids enjoy school and have been given many opportunities through sport and other activities.
We find the school excellent with great management and teaching led by the principal. Based on the number of teachers who have been there since the opening of the school and the number of very experienced teachers they have recruited ,doubt there is “discord in the staff room”.
They recently had a Whole School evaluation which I understand is a total school inspection and the initial reports were excellent. This will be published later in the year so will be very informative.
Would love to know the massive issues as we are very happy with the school.

DC were in a different ETSS, eldest was in ther start up year. It was excellent until most of the senior staff left to head up other ET schools. The very best teachers went to Harold's Cross. Another went to Sandymount. Based on our experience I would chose Harold's Cross.

I have two kids in Sandymount park ETSS. They both love the school and are thriving there. We find the principal excellent. I had not heard anything at all about 'discord in the staff room' and would like to know what this is about?!!
As a previous poster stated, the school was recently inspected by the Department of Education and the initial reports were excellent with a detailed report to follow. The school gets hundreds of applications every year for first year, it is oversubscribed and has a long waiting list.
