I think they should vastly downsize and essentially become the English language version of TG4, which seems to operate ok, I think. Should cover English language service public broadcasting relevant to this country. We can get all our soaps and series from the UK and streaming services but you'd have to tune into them if you wantes coverage of Irish politics, news or sport, etc.

Hundreds of staff would be unemployed overnight if we did that. Tg4 doesn't actually make any television programmes, that's why it can run so cheaply.

Yes that's exactly what I mean when I say it should be downsized.

I see. Have to disagree with that. It wouldn't fulfil its public service remit under that model.
