Literally this! How and where do you lovely people source a reasonably priced holiday abroad for 2 adults and 2 kids ages 9
And 11? Every where I try seems extortionate (£5k) but yet people seem to mange to get away. Can anyone guide me please ?

Book separately, flights and accommodation, try all nearby airports, fly from one airport back to another, odd number of days 6 8 12, rather than 7 10 14 and generally book early. Fly midweek or if it’s a popular Friday to Monday weekend break destination fly Saturday or Sunday, basically check all combinations. Go to an airport with plenty of flight competition, if there’s only one airline flying in they charge what they like. Travel light, often luggage costs as much as a seat, maybe be prepared to handwash a few things. Book an apartment so you can mix it up eating out and in, check price of this on all different booking sites and also see if it’s cheaper booking direct. Find discount codes. Book a resort near to the airport to keep transfer costs down.
Its harder to all this with school age kids but it is possible, just needs more research

I’m interested in this too.

I just got back from France and met a woman who paid almost half what we had paid for the mobile home for the week, and I also could have saved on the ferry as it was only half full going over and back to Cherbourg.

i book way ahead of time because we are restricted with dates due to our jobs, but maybe waiting last minute we would get a bargain. I won’t be taking that chance though as it could go either way, depending on the year.

Have a look at Kelair as they have deals on trips to France now if you would be interested in that. We had the best time, it’s was my first time on a holiday like that and I absolutely loved it.
Good luck.

Regarding flights though, it’s the opposite and the earlier you book the better. Flights are very expensive and in high demand this year.

I was sure the Ferry to France would be mobbed because of the Aer Lingus issues but it was half empty. You might get a really good bargain now if you have a look.

Here is the campsite we stayed in:
