Walking in Dublin at night - Aviva Stadium

I was unsure if I should put this here or in holidays - so apologies if I am wrong.
I went for here as it is a very specific question.

My 9 year old ds and I are having a couple of days in Dublin around a football match. On the night of the football match I had planned for us to walk the 20 mins back to the hotel at the 10pm ish finishing time. Normally if you are nearish better to do that than join hordes waiting for public transport after sports events ime.

However some of the mumsnet threads have now put the fear of god into me about walking an 8 year old around Dublin at 10pm. We would be following what looks like a big road back into the centre of the city.

Can anyone advise on a 20 min walk at 10pm from the Aviva to the centre at all? Not a weekend night.

Thanks!

Dublin isn't unsafe. Some parts are, sure, like any other major city.

Just what we felt on a girls weekend away. We are from inner city brum so not unused to rough but Dublin and paris were very scary

Parts of Dublin can be very rough but not where the op is asking. Also there will be a huge amount of people walking that route from the match at that time.

Are you familiar with the specific area the OP is asking about?

What parts of Dublin were you in that you felt unsafe? Genuinely asking as a Dubliner here.

Epic is pretty good.

Don't be daft. There are rough parts of Dublin, like anywhere. But where were you that was 'very very scary'? 🤨

Really late update but it was absolutely fine, lots of fans walking back the same way, no trouble at all.

We had an amazing time in Dublin and I would definitely return!

Several years ago I was out in Dublin around 11pm, walking around with some colleagues (work trip). We were lost and arguing over the correct way back to our hotel. A man approached and asked if we needed help. The cynical Londoners that we were immediately suspected he was up to no good😭 After he gave us directions he saw we were still confused and ended up going out of his way to walk us to the hotel. I would say Dublin is one of the safest cities I’ve walked around in late at night.

There is no such place as the Aviva.😡

Now if you mean Lansdowne Road...................it will be perfectly safe. #rugby oldschool. It is Lansdowne Road. 😀
