Have you sailed Holyhead-Dublin recently? Please tell me...

If you have recently got the ferry to Dublin can you please tell me how stringent they are at checking the covid test details?

We have booked our pre travel tests, but I thought the timing window. was from departure from Uk, but just realised it is from arrival. We will be 3 hours out - will they check? Mind?

Would appreciate hearing recent experiences.

When I travelled over in the summer they just asked me if we had been vaccinated/tested, they didn't look, just took my word for it. But wondering if they are stricter now with new restrictions/threat...

I thought it was 48 hours from departure too, but, like you, mine and DH's antigen tests will be about 3 hours out (doing Irish Ferries Holyhead to Dub on Wednesday 22nd).... 😬😬

We'd already booked DD's PCR test on Mon 20th before the antigen tests for the fully jabbed came in, so booked our tests at the same clinic, at around the same time. Aaaargh!! I really hope it will be OK. We've had so much stress with other things in the last few weeks.

We had the same in the summer, in Dublin off the ferry they just wanted to see DD's PCR letter, weren't bothered about mine and DH's vax status letters.

Hi @YouLando
Thanks for checking, I was coming on to update you Grin
At Holyhead checkin they asked if we had done tests, plf but didn't check anything. Some people were having documents checked.
At Dublin we were waved through by customs, then asked what nationality, have you done tests and plf. I replied British, yes and yes, he responded on your way merry Christmas.
Nothing was checked.
Very smooth crossing too, and we paid got a cabin so was positively luxurious !
Hope you have a good journey too! Merry Christmas Xmas Grin

And apparently in the Irish Times a few days ago an official was quoted saying something along the lines of that at the ports:/airport they aren't going to mind if the test is a few hours out.

Hi @ferrychristmas Xmas Smile

The crossing was OK thanks, apart from the 40 minute wait to get off once we got back to the car.
Then, once off, we sat stationary for about 45 minutes in a massive queue 🙄
We thought it was everyone getting documents, tests etc checked, but we were just eventually waved through without any checks!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Smile
