Is Ireland the easiest country in Europe to end up homeless?

I live here and since the last decade, Ireland's housing/homeless crisis has spiralled out of control. I even remember one minister for Fine Gael saying in 2012-2013 that by 2016, Ireland will have made the problem of homelessness a 'non-issue'..How wrong were they.

I have relatives that live in Ireland, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and the US. I know three people who have lost their house and one who ended up homeless. Unsurprisingly, all of them are in Ireland.

What's the reason for this? Some have said it's the high demand and low supply of housing caused by TD's who have an interest in preventing new properties from being developed.

With so many TDs who are landlords and the Minister for Housing involved in REIT since 2008 it's in their own interest to keep feathering their own nests.

No. There are a fair few countries in Europe with much higher homelessness rates. Germany and Britain are 2 of them.

Do you mean lost their house through repossession (which would be unusual in Ireland, it’s a very high bar to repossess a family home) or a rented house - which would be more likely given soaring rents? I don’t know about other countries but homelessness as far as I know is much higher in Britain but there’s much less focus on it in the Tory dominated newspapers.
