Possibility of a new Bank Holiday.

What would be your choice for a new Bank Holiday / State Holiday.?
Mine would be sometime in July.
We have Easter- March or April.
We have May, June and August bank holidays.
September is back to school.
We then have October.

July - most years the weather is ok.

Some are suggesting February.

February for me, just to break up that long dreary spell (well it feels that way to me anyway!) between New Year and St.Patrick's Day. Maybe St. Brigid's Day or Valentine's Day (given the Dublin connection and it's often near mid term) could be upgraded? October has one also but November is probably too close to Christmas to be of as much benefit. Mind you I'd happily accept one a month if that was on offer!

St Brigid's day would be lovely. I agree to break up the long grey, cold spell after Christmas. I lived up in Scotland for a while where they have St Andrew's day at the end of November, Christmas, Stephen's day, the 1st and 2nd of January! More than half of the public holidays in the space of 6 weeks! It would be nice to have one every 6 weeks or so.

In February in honour of St Valentine -
a "Love" long weekend.
Good tourist potential too.

I still prefer July though

I just remembered north and south have different bank hols. We have one in July up here. I'd love 1st November but alas the North isn't getting a new one so may keep dreaming of it 😢

The north already has ten though, there are only nine currently in the south

Oh I thought we basically had like for like? I live on the border so so many people work in the roi and so many people from.the roi work here it gets confusing!
