It looks like the Government Formation Talks are coming to a close and an agreement has been reached.
Mícheál Martin up first for Taoiseach - we, Irish have either short memories, are very forgiving or are stupid.
I won't forget where he sat when Ireland gave in to European pressure and unsecured bond holders got their money, when Irish homeowners were put out of their homes - and they wonder why there is a housing crisis Angry.
He was also Minister for Health, God help us.

He was part of those awful FF led governments - remember Bertie and Brian Cowen.

I am disgusted again by Irish politics.

Interesting times, and no money to keep us happy. I hope the country stays healthy now,and people can get back to work in a more normal way. I hope Leo, Simon etc have a rest.
Roll on brexit.

Leo has played this perfectly. He has great poll numbers so he's bowing out on a high, and the last three months has rehabbed the FG image. Now MM has the next two and a half years to deal with the shit show aftermath and recession. Leo will be off to some plum job in Europe before the backbenchers revolt and pull the plug on this grand coalition.

eggandonion · 27/06/2020 19:36

Do you think Leo will do a bit of Europe then president?

7Days · 27/06/2020 21:08

Makes sense. After a long long holiday

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 27/06/2020 21:34

I think he's much more ambitious than president of Ireland; president of the EU commission?

LadyEloise · 28/06/2020 09:02

No Ministerial representation for Connacht or the North West but 2 Wicklow ministers.

Dara Calleary deputy leader of FF won't be happy as Chief Whip I'd say.

Keep your friends close but your enemies closer, they say in politics.
