5 year old girl attacked by 3 boys under 10

In the news yesterday - a five year old girl was attacked by 3 boys under the age of 10. She had been lured away by them, apparently to be sexually assaulted but bravely fought back and got away.
What is happening to our children ?
Why are parents not monitoring what their children are watching ?
I truly despair- that poor wee girl.

See things online too young, and they're still at the age of 'playing'. I cant imagine at their ages they would have been after sexual pleasure?

My kids are all those ages. Frightening to think this could happen when you let your kids play out on the green with the neighbours children.

This from a senior Garda source has absolutely infuriated me:

"Yes, this is a very, very sensitive investigation but it has to be noted that the female child only suffered minor injuries when she was hit by sticks in the shed of that house"

Why the absolute fuck are they trying to minimize what has happened to this poor little girl???

It must be so difficult for her parents, knowing who the boys are and where they live. I know what my first instinct would be in that situation.

If so, what have they been hearing about the case that makes it something to emulate?
They shouldn't know so much about it in the first place, never mind hav the poor girls death dragged down to meme level in playgrounds. Just speculating here if course
