Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Any recommendations on where to get a nice toddler "novelty" bed?

Hi,
Maybe I'm just suffering from pregnancy induced over-sentimentality, but we're getting ready to move my DS (2.6) into a bed and I've found myself drawn to novelty beds (pirate ships, rockets, cars etc). There seems to be a huge range out there from plastic cars to full sized galleons (!) but I'm just wondering if anyone has had good experiences with a particular brand or website? I'm looking for something nice, preferably wooden. I don't mind paying a bit more if it's nice and well made, within reason!

I had a thread about this when moving DS1 to a bed and was looking at a Thomas bed. Got some very good advice which was to buy a plain bed but get character bedding instead -- much easier to change when they grow out of a particular character/interest. We started with Thomas bedding but now it's Cars!
