John Lewis mattress in a Mamas & Papas cot?

Our first baby is due in March and we would like to get the Mamas & Papas Sherwood cot. However, we think we prefer the feel of the John Lewis mattresses and was wondering if anyone knows would they fit? The JL mattress dimensions are listed as 60cmx120cm whereas the M&P mattresses are listed as 63cmx126cm. It would seem, therefore, that the JL one would fit it but we are concerned there might be a gap left where baby fingers could get stuck... Anyone any thoughts or experience? Thanks very much

Hello,

They do fit and they do have a gap. When the baby is small it is not obvious but when they are more mobile and pulling themselves up it can cause a problem as legs will get through the gaps. Not from my experience but my sisters.

I hate the way that manufacturers produce different sizes so as you can only stick to one brand Grrrr - Rant over.

If I were you I would buy a JL cot. We got the cot bed for our daughter with the changing table top and it has lasted her for 2 and a half years. Plus the mattress is a much better quality.

She is still using it now and it is in great condition.

we used JL matresses in M&P cots for our twins, small gap but not worth worrying about ime

Thanks allstarprincess and duckyfuzz.

Just been mosy-ing around on the interweb and I see Mothercare provide mattresses 63cmx127cm. Would this fit into a M&P cot? Or is that 1cm extra length gonna cause problems? Any thoughts on the quality of Mothercare mattresses, esp compared to JL and M&P ones? Thanks!
