Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Is the Mothercare bedside cot the nearest thing to the old Cosatto side-by-side?

I bought a cosatto side-by-side, I think it was called, 2 years ago. Have just been looking at what's currently available, and it seems that Cosatto have greatly reduced their range of cots, but the Mothercare one looks very like our Cosatto. Am I also right in suspecting that there are perhaps fewer bedside cots around and there is less of a huge price difference between them and 'ordinary' dropsided cots? DD has barely spent an entire night in the Cosatto in two years and tbh, I'm not sure a drop-sided cot is advisable with a wooden bed frame such as we have - I was always anxious about the slight gap. So that was £300 down the drain! Let's hope she likes her big bed better.
