Have used both the Amby and Natures Rest whilst working for 2 families, both babies slept fine.

My niggles were -

Amby:

  • good incline so good for reflux/vomity babies
  • do a stronger spring for heavier/bigger babies
  • the stand was in the way of my feet

NR:

  • stand folded flat easily when not needed
  • was easy to move room to room when folded
  • it seemed more enclosed and the head end was 'flappy'
  • 4 legged stand needed a fair bit of space when open

Both used from birth to 6/9 months also in garden in the summer.

Sorry it was Natures Sway, not Natures Rest
A little different as it had cotton sides (no mesh) and the stand was 4 legs.

I bought a Miyo baby hammock for my DS2 as I'd heard such good things about them, and was desperate to do anything I could to ensure sleep.

He didn't get on with it at all, and much prefers his cot. We persevered for the first couple of weeks before admitting defeat and using cot/gro-bags at night, and swaddling in the cot for daytime naps. He's now a month old and sleeping well in these (only woke once for a feed last night). But he was a big baby when he was born, and is enormous now so I don't think it was right for him from the start.

So I have a hammock for sale if you're interested!

I love love love the amby was only thing dd would sleep in in day and somehow she evolved to sleeping in it through the night too. She is 6months and a big baby but we plan on getting the big spring and a toddler hammock so she can be in it longer if she wants.

Get one! Best thing ever.

loved it for my two, both were in it until about seven mos iirc. well worth it for the SLEEP.

Hello

I have a question about the hammocks. I was originally looking at buying 2 baskets. One for up stairs and one for down stairs but now I think I have been converted to hammocks. The problem is they work out quite expensive when you need 2. Does anyone have any tips on what others have done? Is it easy to dismantle so it can be moved from up/down stairs daily or if not is the actual hammock easy enough to remove so I could carry that upstairs at night and hook it up to a second frame?

MChelle - we bought a Miyo baby hammock, which comes with a substantial and sturdy stand as well as a very useful contraption that allows you to hang the hammock from a door frame. So I intend to keep the stand in our bedroom (and later in the nursery) for nights and move the hammock around the house to hang from door frames for daytime naps.

Have a look on their website: www.moffii.com/acatalog/Cocoon.html

I used a Natures Sway one from day 2 up until 5 months. I loved it, dd slept well in it until she decided she preferred to sleep on her front and at 5 months was almost succeeding in turning self over in cradle! Great for travelling though.

We have an amby and have used it for two babies - they have both loved it. DS1 used it until he was about 8 months old and DS2 is just about to grown out of it at 9 months - it has been worth every penny as they find it really easy to self settle again if they wake.

Can anyone tell me - is there a bigger hammock and spring for the amby?

cazzybabs · 18/05/2011 22:35

I have an Amby - I love it because dd4 sleeps so well in it .. however at 9 months she is getting a little big but am dreading the switch to cot because I think she will find it so different. (plus I don't want her to grow up).

pinkytheshrinky - You can buy a stronger spring but my worry is at some point they will be able to get out of it

leddeeburdee · 18/05/2011 22:38

Had an amby and DS loved it. He was a dreadful sleeper before I got it but the Amby worked well for him. However, DD slept terribly in it and I sold it as she simply couldn't settle in it (to be fair, she only settled properly when I started co-sleeping with her, so not strictly the Amby's fault).

So if you'd asked me after DS I'd have said they were brilliant, but after DD I wasn't quite so convinced. I think DS was in it until 6-9 months (and I got a good price for it when I sold it so it wasn't too bad an investment financially).
