I was off sick recently and had Just Eat deliver some Gaviscon from Waitrose. It was £15.00 for 250 MLS! Outrageous. I found out they and Morrisons do a generic 500 ml one (tastes the same) for £6.80. I prefer the aniseed one.

Strepsils were £7.00. 😱

They don’t have to refund you unless there’s something wrong with it, but they may do out of goodwill. It was up to you to check the price

$22.50 in Australia. That’s £11.18.

Supermarket own ones are just the same and cheaper. Savers do a good cheap one too

herbetta · 06/12/2025 12:35

Yes, always buy the generic version of anything where the active ingredients are the same. Either supermarkets own or in Home Bargains etc 👌

I used to get through a large bottle of Gaviscon a week. Then I lost a lot of weight, and now I don’t ever need the stuff. Just one more advantage of weight loss :-)

Nourishinghandcream · 06/12/2025 13:54

Bought one from Sainsbury's a couple of weeks ago and it was £14.
Went into Tesco a few days later and it was £11 with Clubcard.

People will end up taking up valuable doctor appointments for prescriptions at a larger cost to the NHS

HostaCentral · 06/12/2025 22:07

Always buy the genetic. Same ingredients, just as effective. We buy the Waitrose one £6.80.

gamerchick · 06/12/2025 22:21

What are you going to say when you take it back, that you didn't check the price at the time?

Time to go generic and chalk it up to experience.
