Just wondering has anyone had theirs yet? I'm still waiting.

I randomly received £150 into my account from the council, I did in November too. I didn’t apply for a single thing!

Also got sent heated blankets and £150 out onto my electric meter in November from my electric company. Again, I didn’t apply for anything

Us too. It was to do with the warm home discount. You had to be on certain benefits and something to do with your home. We are all electric. Don't know how they decided

HaddyAbrams · 18/04/2025 17:14

The warm home discount is a joke. I get told every year I don't have to apply, it's automatic. Never get it. This year I got a letter saying I had to apply, so I did. Told on the phone the money would be automatically applied to my electricity meter. After the scheme closed I got a, letter saying I didn't qualify as the name on my account on the qualifying date and the name on my UC don't match. Phoned up to explain (I'd changed my name) and offered to send proof. Nope. Not allowed. Scheme has closed until next year.

It's odd I have read several articles saying they are doing a one off COL payment this April.
Starting to wonder if I dreamed it.
Definitely wasn't the local fund they were talking about.

You haven't dreamed it. I have seen a number of these articles too. I was expecting that money and had made plans for it, just to discover it's not happening.

I took one for the team.

It's the household support fund that's been 'made available '. It's a clickbait article.

Why would you make plans when the government has said it isn't happening? Don't believe everything you read.

haastrope · 19/04/2025 10:47

Gosh! People please only get your news from official/trusted sources. If you read articles like this from random sites, got to gov.uk to confirm this. Otherwise, just take it with a truckload of salt.

Don't believe everything you see/read online. This should be common sense for teens, let alone adults.

Sorry .. definitely no more due. We all just have to scrape together the cost of Taylor Swift tickets ourselves

Where are you getting tickets and for what? I need this information 🤣

Ollybob · 19/04/2025 10:52

I've seen several of these articles, the way they are written looks like it's happening but if you look at who's written it and then check via the official government website you soon find out it's just rubbish and click bait.

I don't.

Every other time I've read a number of articles about an imminent COL payment from different sources, an official payment has followed. It's really not a spectacular feat to see why I'd expect that pattern to continue.

So that's why I made plans in my head with the money.

I have not received anything from the government, regarding cost of living payment. We're struggling more than ever to keep on top of rent, electricity bills and food for me and my partner. I'm currently on emergency credit well free day credit as my electric went at 9pm on bank Holiday Monday. I'm glad I still have it on but worried we're I'm going to get money from for groceries and electricity. And how I'm going to pay back the amounts. This cost of living payment has been promised to us over 6-7 times now. One in match and one in February. Absolutely not right. And out ravenous when we have nothing. And needing this so badly. It's like noone cares.

Aishahamza · 22/04/2025 00:47

They actually said last year there wouldn't be anymore. Whenever I see these articles about one they all look very dodgy sites. You will be best asking the council or accessing food banks instead.

gamerchick · 22/04/2025 22:44

There has not been any promised though. There are no more cost of living payments. These are click bait articles about the household fund from the council. Which you have to apply for.

You shouldn't be waiting for a payment that isn't coming. You need to be proactive - contact your council and citizens advice and ask for help

Who promised you a cost of living payment? Who promised it 6 or 7 times? There are always articles going on about payments but when you read them, it’s household support funds, or specific payments for certain groups who are owed or special council payments or free school meals expansions. There haven’t been any cost of living payments promised for a long long time and the government were clear that this was over with and no more would be issued.

Sturgcl1 · 26/04/2025 07:21

It's really sad that there's so much clickbait about COL, it got my hopes up when it pops up on news feed, but like everyone says, further investigation shows it's all from iffy sources, nothing at all from anywhere legit.
One of the websites even gave a breakdown of when we would get payments with £300 in spring, summer & autumn 2025! I think the use of AI makes it far too quick & easy to product false information.

You can apply through local services for household support fund which starts again 1st May. We have social prescribers at our local GP surgery who makes the claim for you. I got £200 of supermarket vouchers last month so it's worth doing. I also had a lovely lady from 365 energy come round to look at energy usage. They could improve much, but a grant paid for a boiler service long overdue & they are getting builders out to repair a leak, all FOC. It's well worth reaching out to your local service on 1st May.
Sorry deffo not cost of living payments this year tho.
