Both parents made redundant/Childcare 15 hours

Hi all,
I hope you are well.

QQ: If both parents have been made redundant, are we entitled to 15 hours of childcare?

I’ve googled it, but I can’t come to a conclusion on next steps.

Thank you for any advice you might have and for your time.

I think you keep any hours you were entitled to when you reconfirmed your eligibility before being made redundant. But you won’t be able to reconfirm again if you don’t have a job I don’t thinks so you’d lose them next quarter. (I have heard of a grace period but I’m not sure when this applies.) I found it very difficult to get a straight answer on this when I was in a similar situation but this is the conclusion I came to.

If both parents are out of work you may qualify instead for UC so may get different funding instead?

You will be entitled to 15 hours fron the term after your child is 3.

You MAY be eligible for 15 hours from the term after they are 2, depending on what benefits you are eligible for.

If you are currently eligible for 15 or 30 hours, you won’t lose that until after the end of the grace period.

If your funding for summer term had already been confirmed you will get that funding. After that if your child is over three you would get 15 hours funding for autumn term. If your child is over two and you meet criteria you could get the two year funding for September.

If you are already claiming it then you should be eligible until the end of your grace period .
