How much do you spend on an 8 year olds haircut? Just took my DD for a 15 minute wet cut (I washed it before we went), and no hair drying was done - £25!

is this just what it costs now? We are SE.

I used to just get dd a wet cut. Was about £12.
£25 is expensive

Bromptotoo · 19/02/2025 16:19

I was paying £40+ in 'Legal London' c2010; barrister's prices.

A tenner covered it locally before the pandemic but I might have got away with Pensioners Rates.

For last few years I've done a buzz cut myself with a clipper set I got during lockdown.

InTheRainOnATrain · 19/02/2025 16:20

I think that’s about normal for a DD. DS’s at a barbershop are cheaper but with girls it’s a proper hairdresser or a kids hairdresser and I haven’t found one under £25.

OperationalSupport · 19/02/2025 16:22

Our local ‘kids’ hairdresser is £19 for a kids cut (iPads, car chairs, toys, and they get a bag of sweets as they leave).
The local barber charges about £10 for a boys cut, and the hairdresser was £15 for a dry trim for DD.
Oh, and were TfL zone 6.

IamChipmunk · 19/02/2025 16:35

Yorkshire here £10 for dd8 wet cut in local village hairdressers.
£12 ds10 for decent clipping at the local village Turkish barbers

Pigtailsandall · 21/02/2025 09:31

I paid £18 in zone 2 in London for my 5yo. Tbh it was just a local hairdresser, not a "kids" one with bells and whistles

Doveyouknow · 21/02/2025 09:35

£12 at the Turkish barbers in zone 2 London, so not bad. I would say £25 was a lot for a barber but about right for a hairdresser.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 21/02/2025 09:37

That's about what it is near me - I've had to resort to taking DS there as well as the Turkish barbers were just too variable and he's had some awful haircuts as none of them seem to be able to deal with a double crown!

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 21/02/2025 09:41

Yes I've paid the same for trotters child friendly with fish etc

Fluteytooting · 21/02/2025 09:43

I’ve literally just got back from getting my 10yo DDs hair cut and it cost £8! I’m SE.

Playmobil4Eva · 21/02/2025 09:47

£20 Norfolk- curl specialist.

roses2 · 21/02/2025 09:48

I'm in London in an area where every other shop is a hairdresser/barber.

Boys and DH are £12 and I pay £20 for a dry cut. These are the cheapest prices in the area.

£20 for my DS to have a cut at a specialist children's salon in the North West. He's 3 with very curly hair so I'm happy to pay for a stylist who does a good job and who he sits nicely for.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/02/2025 07:48

£8 for U12s at the barbers for DS

My hairdresser does dd's fringe for free if she comes with me, or about £20 for a bigger all round cut. DS is 13. I'm sure my hairdresser will start charging me proper prices for her soon!

Danikm151 · 28/02/2025 07:51

A boys cut used to be a fiver round here the last couple of years it’s gone up to £8.

the one salon my son will go to was £8 but now it’s £11

Dinnerplease · 28/02/2025 11:15

SatsumaCat · 28/02/2025 13:57
