Water Rate Bill Gone up

Just got my water rate bill through and my payments have increased by an additional £24.00 per month. Everything is going up food, council tax …you name it and it’s going up. How on earth do they expect people to keep paying these increases!. Just having a rant

Mine’s gone up £16 per month. Single user with Thames Water. 🙄. Water meter.

I was paying based on rateable value (Severn Trent Water) and have just moved to a meter. As well as getting a £250 refund based on what I'd paid my monthly payment has gone down from £89 per month (payable for 8 out of 12 months) to £29 per month (payable every month). Wish I'd done it sooner as it was so easy to do.

I've just asked for a meter as it's gone up to £74 per month. Told no refunds and new price only when meter has been installed.

Wales Water. Just gone up 60%.

Yep! I'm in wales. It's shit

AndSoFinally · 22/02/2025 17:55

Wow, some of your rates are horrendous! I'm Welsh water and not on a meter. I currently pay £60/month but there are 5 of us in a 6 bed house on band F council tax. How are yours so expensive??

Having said that, don't know yet what mine will be increasing to...

I haven't had my bill yet, but I looked online and the Welsh increase is reported as 'only' being 27%. What a lie!

HarrietsweetHarriet · 23/02/2025 15:18

Powys here. Letter arrived yesterday.
Increase of 60 % !!! And will continue to rise over the next 5 years. They have us over a barrel though, don't they? We have no choice but to pay it!

Gizlotsmum · 23/02/2025 15:21

All are going up but these price increases were agreed 5 years ago ( due to how the industry works), all water companies are now confirming what the next 5 years bills will be.

Just had my bill so up another £16 pm on top of the increase that we all had last year. It’s day light robbery, how on earth do this government expect people to live. Everything is up and keeps going up and absolutely nothing is going down!. Anyone had there bill yet?

If you’re on a meter something is leaking! That’s insane?! That can’t be right.
We have 4 of us and been paying about £18-30 for years.

Or - you need to change to a meter.

our metered rate went from 75 to 100

Sometimes they don’t take readings for a while. So watch out for that.

Ours went up a few months ago. The letter they sent me showed us using crazy amounts that I knew wasn’t right. Well it was obviously estimated because then recently we got a letter saying it’s being reduced!

OP, why not start a new thread rather than another chapter on the old one? It would make it more relevant.

Girl2345 · 05/02/2026 00:23

I pay what I can afford a month no more debt gets bigger but they seem to leave me alone as I'm paying something 😂😂
