Does anyone know if Sainsburys will have a 'Double Up' offer on Nectar points this year?

I think some people were offered it last year but not me.
I've always saved my Nectar points for this but not sure if it's worth hanging onto them anymore.

I'd be interested to know this too as I've saved up all my points. I got it last year. I remember it was the equivalent of this thread last year that prompted me to check - otherwise I would have missed it.
I don't seem to have it this year.

I don't think they do the double up any more. They have their 'countdown to Christmas' thing on at the moment. You hit tasks and get extra points. That ends 15/12 though.

JudyKing · 07/11/2024 20:53

As @Ljufr just said, they do the Countdown to Christmas. I’ve completed the first challenge and got an extra 400 points. No way will I get the full 2000 extra points but never mind 🤷‍♀️

CrispyK · 07/11/2024 21:05

I was hoping they would do it again too. It was called points power up last year.
But I don’t think they will.

Do you maximise your bonus points? That's the only way I manage it, as I certainly don't spend that much!

Hoppinggreen · 13/11/2024 10:42

I am not sure they do it anymore.
I used to save mine and double up in November each year, used to get around £50-75 of free stuff. It was great

Yes, I spent £80 on Monday but due to my nectar points on the app and a triple points code, I got over 2000 points

I love weeks like that!

I'm about 250 points from completing the challenge and DH needs about 1500, so I'm prioritising his spend at present. I can pop in and get a handful of bonus points items on my card and complete it easily.

Boomer55 · 14/11/2024 17:11

I haven’t been offered anything.

Notquitethere60 · 16/11/2024 05:52

Onto the last 600 points challenge- it’s quite easy ; just shop your points on the app. Buy stuff you use but the points are geared around what you buy normally anyway and I got 80 points on several items.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/11/2024 13:21

I'm completing two lots of 5 x 600. I'm on the last challenge for me and penultimate one for DH. It's honestly dead easy if you shop the offers. I earned 775 points on DH's online order today (plus 400 more for completing challenge 3 of Count Up).

I anticipate finishing both before December.

I find most of my Nectar points come from other sources. We currently have about £50 worth, built up over a few years because I'm playing chicken with them over Double Up.

It must have been a few years ago since there was a double up (possibly before COVID so 2019?) as I remember a family discussion about going to Sainsbury's to get double up wine (no-one really shops there but DM likes someone to take her there for a browse every once in a while and I said I couldn't do double up as didn't have any points).

But I've somehow amassed what seems to be loads of points since then, despite only ever doing the odd small shop in Sainsbury's, mostly from eBay, Argos and putting fuel in the work hire cars. I've also had the odd lump of free points - there's been various offers over the years where everyone gets free points and I seemed to do quite well with a 2000 bonus.

Perhaps I should take one for the team and put mine towards a normal shop because then sod's law dictates there will immediately be another double up type event.

OllyBJolly · 17/11/2024 07:14

I've finished the Challenge. Found it accumulated quickly using the bonus points which were all items I buy every week anyway.

I've gone back to using the kiosk rather than Pay at Pump for petrol as I seem to get a double points voucher every second time I go in. No vouchers at the pump.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/11/2024 07:28

I think the last Double Up was 3-4 years' ago. It was during the Covid period as I was wondering if they'd do it and encourage people into stores during the pandemic.

I didn't get invited to the replacement to it last year. I think because I regularly spend my points and they want to try to encourage those who don't into spending them!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/11/2024 17:35

I've completed both of our challenges this week, so two lots of 3,000 points.

I'm pretty sure that you normally get extra 'well done' points for completing it nearer to Christmas as well.
