Can anyone please tell me where the work is, where are all the jobs and what the hell is going on.
I work seasonally March - Nov love my job would not give it up for love nor money it pays fairly well. Usually when looking for a fill in for Dec to end of Feb their are no end of zero hour contracts, scrub this floor lick my boots jobs out there.
Oct 2024
Carers jobs
Construction
Mitchel and butler
Greene King
Where are they even the roles in these types of employment are few and far between.
How are we supposed to pay for the incompetence of a governments handling of finances in the UK again! Usually the banks might I add however bonuses still manage to reach there hefty bank accounts.
I called housing associations to ask how many homes they were building to accommodate the housing crisis only one association was building a few homes.
Everything you hear on the news is a lie or narrated in a way to stress or out off people from complaining by creating another problem before one can be addressed.
I've cancelled my TV license I will not pay 200 pound a year plus Internet absolutely not.
If I could stop paying water I would the company's owners need to be punished for profiting from pollution and I mean punished. Take away homes assets whole livelihoods and same for the tories lining their pockets through a worldwide pandemic again propaganda we come to find our lives completely upheaved and where are they sipping on the gold flaked cappuccino.
We need to collectively come together and tackle this.. Enough is enough! I've had enough!

I can’t say there is any shortage of jobs where we live to be honest, we went to the shopping centre a few weeks ago and most of the shops are hiring seasonal staff, our local Facebook page has multiple posts every week of cafe/pub/labourer/delivery driver/temp jobs available.

If you need a TV license I’m really not sure why you’d cancel that, it’ll cost you a lot more than the £170 a year that the license costs.

??? How will cancelling a TV licence cost more than paying for it?

Really?

There's a massive shortage of professional,/ qualified jobs in my experience, I've just been offered a 6 month contract after looking since June and told by recruiters that many others in my field are in the same boat.

However the true dire nature of the jobs market is hidden by the unqualified/ Mon wage type roles so unemployment figures don't look too bad.

A lot of these are zero/ short hours ( although expecting employee availability most of the time) so not a great prospect for anyone without additional means.

I assume she means in a fine if you are caught watching TV that requires a licence when you don't have one.

Presumably OP does need one, so the fine for not having one is £1000.

Do you think the current govt should have fixed things in 3 months?!

The budget is coming. It will be harsh. Employers are waiting to see what they do.

Then there may be jobs. A gig economy approach to Employment has its downsides as well as benefits I'm afraid.

The TV license non payment is because Labour are considering decriminalising non payment of tv licences. This is not the case yet so op has done something that can still land someone in court. Licences are here till around 2027, but looking for reform. It’s outdated isn’t and all a bit archaic. The BBC do one thing better than anyone else and that’s costume dramas but that’s it these days for me. I can see a time when it’s abolished and they go down the advertising route.

My mate worked in Holloway and some prisoners were there for non payment of tv license, it disproportionately affects women. Was a few years ago so unsure if they still imprison for it.

Banana39571 · 24/10/2024 14:54

If you in prison for TV licence non payment you are an idiot.

If you dont want tv licence go to BBC website and follow the process its not rocket science! I did that and havent been contacted by them at all and its been over a year and I dont watch live tv.

dutysuite · 27/10/2024 11:11

The industries my husband and I work in have both been impacted hard since the pandemic and don’t seem to have recovered, I’ve been looking for a job since the start of the year and there just isn’t anything, my husband had to take a much lower paid job just to see us through and I’ve even looked for much lower level work too but there’s nothing. Our savings have all been eaten. Re the TV licence I agree, I would love to get shot of ours but my husband won’t. If I lived on my own it would be gone.

I didn’t think there was anything to fix
But after their meddling their is

I work in the “gig” sector and you can earn £5000 from April to April. After that you will be lucky to be employed by anyone as you are going to cost more to employ
