Have you fixed your energy for winter?

Forecasts think the price cap will rise by 10% in October and stay there January, possibly not dropping again until April. The new price cap is due to be announced 27th august.

I haven't seen much talk of the cap likely going up outside of websites focused on that sort of thing, so some people may not be expecting it.
I've fixed for 12 months, it's a tiny bit more expensive than the current flexible rate but will no doubt be cheaper than the winter price cap. I wasn't sure what to do but I prefer peace of mind.

Martin Lewis said this morning that the cheapest fixes are disappearing. Octopus still have a good one (with no exit fees if you want to move again before the 12 months is up) if you’re thinking of fixing before the option is taken away and they’re taking on new customers. I’ve been with them ages and they have been very good, you even get free cinema tickets, restaurant discounts and free coffee from Gregg’s with the Octopus app 😀

And if you’d like to get us both a £50 credit on our account, feel free to use my referral code, I would be very grateful 🙏

I took advice from a mumsnetter to go on the Octopus tracker, so we've done that, so far have saved £107 over 3 months so pretty happy with that

The price cap is going up today so if anyone is thinking of switching supplier for winter, Octopus are still taking on new customers. Been with them a couple of years now and I’ve been really happy with them. Customer service is always good if I ever need to speak to them and you get freebies like money off at restaurants, free hot drinks from Greggs and Caffè Nero and Octopoints that you can exchange for money off your bill.

If you use my code to switch I’d be very grateful and we both get £50 credit 🙏💐

I’m with Octopus and fixed as there’s no penalty to cancel if need be.

We fixed with Octopus yesterday. Like you say, no risk because there is no penalty to switch if prices drop.
