Best school shoes for boys? Under £30!?

Seen a pair in M&S for £34 which feels a bit expensive to me, especially if DS grows out of them within 6 months
Next have some for £28, or do I go for Tesco/Asda?

Also size up a little?

TIA x

Was a few years ago but we bought a pair at lidl or asda that were about £12 and were fine. Now he just wears black trainers. Tbh i find trainers better value and can be worn outside school.

Sports direct also have good value school shoes

I would not size up, get a size that fits well. They're in them for a lot of hours each day, so need to be comfortable.

Sofabookhotchoc · 01/07/2024 12:24

Try new ones on Vinted. I got a pr new Treads ( which aren't made any more but really tough) for under £15 for my DS who wears his shoes hard.

boobybum · 01/07/2024 12:38

We usually get Adidas Tensaur hook and loop shoes which are £23 or £28 depending on size. There are usually discount codes floating around as well. The shoes seems to last fairly well.

KittensSchmittens · 01/07/2024 14:03

Another vote for smart-ish black trainers from Sports Direct. Perfectly fine for both school and home. If the school insist on Clark's-style school shoes they'll have to chip in for them. 🤣

CherryBombe · 01/07/2024 14:21

Adidas Tensaur are absolutely brilliant!! And under £25z

InTheRainOnATrain · 01/07/2024 14:25

Adidas Tenasaur are great and virtually indestructible if school allow them. They survive my nursery age DS who is really rough on his shoes! Otherwise if he needs a more formal style then Startrite are the best quality I’ve come across, probably more like £35 though so pushing the budget slightly. Get the correct size though, you don’t want blisters and sore feet.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/07/2024 14:41

If you are not allowed trainers, M&S shoes are awesome. I used to get them hand a size too big for DS and put in extra insoles. I'd take out the insoles when his feet grew to create a bit more space.

OnAndOnAndonAgain · 01/07/2024 15:22

Mine used to have adidas school shoes which were great and not a bad price, now hes older we go for kickers , which are a bit more expensive at £34 .

Both last really well though

typicaltuesdaynight · 01/07/2024 21:53

I just but my son black Adidas from sports direct now for £22 I think they last the year unlike Clark's that lasted aug- oct! And were £45!

WorkCleanRepeat · 01/07/2024 22:18

We usually buy Adidas tenasaur too. The quality is deteriorating by the year though. I was hoping to find something else for this year. DS loves them though.

caringcarer · 04/07/2024 00:33

Go to Sports Direct. I went to get trainers and was really impressed with nice black school shoes at sensible prices and they wore really well. I got some for £27.

MaggieFS · 08/07/2024 13:43

I've just found this thread looking for an alternative to Tensaur 😢.

Both DC and school and DC at nursery destroy them. The soles are coming away from the uppers at the front for both of them. They've already been reglued once!

YouJustDoYou · 08/07/2024 13:44

Deichmann has a sale on right now

Frosty1000 · 11/07/2024 13:12

I've just bought some on hush puppies website in the sale - £22 for a black leather lace up.

Kaleidoscope101 · 22/07/2024 09:59

Another vote for Adidas Tensaur.
My lad plays football at break and is very hard wearing on his shoes.
These ones have lasted well.

Blueuggboots · 22/07/2024 10:13

I got my son a pair of deichmann leather shoes that were £35 and they've lasted a year.

slipperypenguin · 22/07/2024 13:23

We bought a pair from Aldi as a spare one year and was really surprised with the quality

ThatUniqueLeader · 22/07/2024 20:51

Realistically, it is buy nice or buy twice. I think these are affordable and popular but Clarkes, in person, would be even better if you could put the money aside.

Danikm151 · 30/07/2024 09:12

I got shoes from clarks outlet online.

diechmann have some good shoes too
