Universal Credit Whilst On Maternity Leave

Hi wondering if anyone knows how the universal credit advanced payment works? I applied for UC as I’m currently on statutory maternity pay, and was told I will hear if I’m eligible and how much I would get mid June but I can apply for an advanced payment before this. I applied for an advanced payment and was accept and received this last week. My question is would I have been accepted for the advanced payment if I’m not eligible to get any universal credit?

Have you had your baby ? If so then if you are only getting smp you will very likely qualify for Uc unless you have a working partner also?
It is possible to be offered an advance and then receive no UC as the advance is based on elements that you are eligible for before earnings are taken into account.
